Sťahovací nôž Stanley 151 konvexná čepeľ čierny rukoväť šírka čepele 5,5 cm

The Spokeshave Stanley 151 with a convex cutting edge and a black handle is a hand tool designed for shaping, smoothing and trimming curved and straight wooden surfaces. With a 5.5 cm blade width it offers a balance between control and material removal, suitable for detailed work on chair legs, tool handles, spindles and other rounded profiles. The construction and blade geometry make it effective for controlled shaving on both soft and hard woods.

Advantages

The convex cutting edge allows consistent contact on rounded profiles, reducing chatter and producing even shavings. The 5.5 cm blade width provides a compromise between narrow precision and broader coverage, enabling faster work on medium-sized surfaces while retaining fine control. The black handle is ergonomically shaped to offer a comfortable two-handed grip for steady guidance and leverage during shaping tasks. Blade adjustment mechanisms permit accurate depth control to achieve thin, uniform shavings.

How to use

Secure the workpiece and ensure it is properly supported. Adjust the blade depth and lateral position so the cutting edge projects slightly for a light shaving; tighter settings reduce material removal for finishing passes. Hold the spokeshave with both hands on the handle, place the convex blade on the surface where a rounded profile is required, and draw the tool along the contour with steady, even strokes. For end grain or very hard woods, take shallower passes and keep the blade sharp to avoid tear-out. Periodically check the profile and adjust the blade to maintain consistent shaving thickness.

Recommendations

Keep the blade sharp and rust-free: hone regularly and store the tool in a dry place. For best results on delicate profiles, perform progressive passes from coarse to fine settings, and finish with light, controlled strokes. When working with figured or brittle woods, take extra care with shallow cuts and frequent checks to prevent over-removal.
