Aqara Motion and Light Sensor P2 - Thread, Bluetooth 5.0, biela

The Aqara Motion and Light Sensor P2 (ML-S03D) is a next-generation smart home sensor that combines motion detection and ambient light sensing in a single compact device. With support for Thread and Bluetooth 5.0, it seamlessly integrates into Matter-compatible smart home ecosystems, enabling fast, reliable, and low-latency communication. Ideal for automating lighting, security, and climate control based on occupancy and brightness levels.

Advantages

Dual-function sensor reduces clutter and simplifies installation. Thread technology ensures a robust mesh network with extended range and lower power consumption compared to Wi-Fi. The adjustable motion sensitivity (3 levels) and configurable detection interval (1-60 seconds) allow fine-tuning for various scenarios. Long battery life of up to 5 years minimizes maintenance. Works with major smart home platforms including Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings.

Suitable for

• Home automation: trigger lights when motion is detected and adjust brightness based on ambient light
• Security: receive alerts when unexpected movement is sensed
• Energy saving: turn off devices when no one is present
• Smart lighting scenes: create dynamic lighting that adapts to natural light levels

Recommendations

Requires a Matter controller with Thread Border Router (e.g., Apple HomePod mini, Amazon Echo 4th Gen, or Aqara Hub M3). For best performance, place the sensor in a corner with clear line of sight to the area of interest. Avoid direct sunlight or heat sources to prevent false triggers.
