Balenie SYNOLOGY DS223j + 2x SEAGATE ST12000VN0008

For those seeking a reliable, ready-to-run storage solution without the hassle of sourcing drives separately, this bundle stands out by pairing Synology's entry-level 2-bay DS223j with two proven Seagate IronWolf 12TB NAS hard drives. Unlike diskless enclosures that leave you guessing about compatibility, this kit delivers 24TB of raw capacity out of the box, pre-tested for 24/7 operation. The DS223j itself is built around a Realtek RTD1619B quad-core processor and 1GB of DDR4 memory, offering a responsive platform for file sharing, backups, and media streaming in homes or small offices. Its compact desktop form factor fits neatly on a shelf, while the tool-less drive bays make installation and future upgrades straightforward.

Highlights

• Includes 2x Seagate IronWolf 12TB SATA HDDs (ST12000VN0008) – 24TB total raw capacity, 7200 RPM, 256MB cache, optimized for NAS workloads.
• 2-bay desktop NAS with Synology Hybrid RAID (SHR), RAID 0/1, JBOD, and Basic modes for flexible data protection.
• Powered by Realtek RTD1619B quad-core 1.7 GHz CPU and 1GB DDR4 non-ECC RAM for smooth multitasking.
• 1x Gigabit Ethernet port for fast wired network transfers; 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports for external drives or UPS connectivity.
• Runs Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM), an intuitive OS with a vast ecosystem of apps for backup, sync, surveillance, and more.

In daily use

Set up is remarkably simple: slide in the two pre-installed IronWolf drives, connect the NAS to your router, and follow the web-based DSM wizard. Within minutes you can create shared folders, schedule automatic backups for PCs and Macs, and enable remote access via Synology QuickConnect. The 1GB of RAM may seem modest, but for typical file serving, photo indexing, and even light Docker use, the DS223j performs admirably. The IronWolf drives are engineered for continuous operation, with rotational vibration sensors and error recovery controls that keep data safe in multi-bay environments. Whether you're archiving family photos, running a small business file server, or setting up a home media library, this bundle delivers dependable performance without breaking the bank.
