Dell 40G QSFP pasívny kábel 1 m (model 05NP8R)

Dell 40G QSFP Passive Cable 1 m is a short-reach copper interconnect designed to deliver 40 Gigabit per second links between compatible QSFP ports on switches, servers and network appliances. The 1 metre direct‑attach cable removes the need for separate optical transceivers for close‑proximity connections in racks or top-of-rack deployments, offering a straightforward physical layer solution for high-density data center and enterprise networking environments.

Advantages

The passive QSFP cable provides low-latency, high-bandwidth connectivity with minimal power consumption because it requires no active electronics or optical conversion. Its fixed 1 m length simplifies cable management in dense rack installations and reduces component count compared with optical SFP/QSFP plus transceivers. The cable is compatible with standard QSFP interfaces, supports 40G data rates, and is suitable for short-range links where a direct-attach copper solution is appropriate.

Suitable for

• Short‑distance switch-to-switch connections inside a rack
• Server-to-top-of-rack switch links in data centers
• Interconnects between network appliances with QSFP ports
• High-density patching scenarios where simplified cabling is preferred

Key specifications

• Connector type: QSFP to QSFP passive direct-attach copper
• Data rate: 40 Gigabits per second
• Length: 1 metre
• Cable type: Copper, passive (no active components)
• Typical application range: Short-reach, within rack or adjacent racks

How to use

Insert each QSFP connector into the corresponding QSFP port on your network devices until the connector latch engages. Ensure that connected devices support passive QSFP direct-attach cables and are configured for the intended 40G link. Route the cable to avoid sharp bends and mechanical strain; maintain adequate airflow around equipment. If link negotiation fails, verify port compatibility and firmware settings on the connected devices.

Recommendations

Use the passive QSFP cable for short-distance connections where 40G bandwidth is required and optical transceivers are unnecessary. Avoid using this cable for long-reach links; for those scenarios, select appropriate optical modules and fiber. Handle connectors by the housing to prevent damage and store cables in a manner that prevents kinks or tight coils.
