Why choose it

This drive is engineered for enterprise environments where uptime and performance are critical. The SAS interface provides full-duplex communication and higher signal integrity compared to SATA, reducing data corruption risks. The 10K RPM speed balances performance and power efficiency, making it ideal for tiered storage and transactional databases. The Smart Carrier design simplifies drive identification and management in HPE server environments.

Ideal use cases

• Database servers requiring low latency
• Virtualization hosts with moderate I/O loads
• High-availability clusters needing hot-swap storage
• Legacy HPE ProLiant servers needing reliable replacement drives

Good to know

The HPE 653955-001B is a bare drive part number; the complete assembly with Smart Carrier is often listed as 653955-001. It is compatible with a wide range of HPE ProLiant Gen7, Gen8, and Gen9 servers. Ensure your server's backplane supports 2.5-inch SAS drives and that you have the correct drive caddy before installation. The drive operates at a low power draw, helping to reduce overall data center energy costs.
