Sieťový switch HP Enterprise 1820-48G (48x Gigabit Ethernet, neupravovaný/webovo upravovaný, montáž do racku)

HP Enterprise 1820-48G is a 48-port Gigabit Ethernet switch intended for small and medium business networks. The unit provides forty-eight 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ‑45 ports and basic web-based management tools for VLAN setup and QoS traffic prioritization. Its rack-mountable form factor allows installation in wiring closets or server racks to aggregate office LAN connections. Power over Ethernet (PoE) capability varies by specific model; verify PoE support if powering devices such as IP phones or access points is required.

Advantages

The switch combines a high port count with simple web management, offering an approachable balance between unmanaged simplicity and basic managed features. VLAN and QoS options allow network segmentation and prioritization without the complexity of full enterprise management systems. Rack-mountable design conserves space in standard cabinets and simplifies cable organization for multi-user office environments.

Suitable for

• Office LAN aggregation and departmental network backbones
• Small and medium business networks requiring up to 48 Gigabit ports
• Environments needing basic VLAN segmentation and QoS prioritization
• Rack-mounted installations in wiring closets or small server rooms

When it may not be suitable

This model is not intended as a full-featured managed switch for complex enterprise deployments that require advanced routing, dynamic routing protocols, or deep traffic analytics. If advanced Layer 3 functions, extensive multicast controls, or large-scale central management are required, consider a higher-tier managed switch.

Key specifications

• Port count: 48 x 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet ports
• Management: web-based management interface with basic configuration options
• VLAN support: basic VLAN configuration for network segmentation
• QoS: traffic prioritization controls for latency-sensitive applications
• Form factor: rack-mountable design for 19" cabinets
• Intended use: access/aggregation switch for small and medium business networks

How to use

Install the switch in a standard 19" rack using the included brackets or place it on a stable surface if rack mounting is not required. Connect Ethernet cabling from workstations, servers and uplinks to the RJ‑45 ports. Access the web-based management interface from a connected PC to configure VLANs, set QoS policies and review basic status information. Verify whether your specific unit supports PoE before connecting powered devices; if PoE is not supported, use separate power sources or PoE injectors.

What to consider before purchase

• Confirm PoE support if you plan to power IP phones, wireless access points or cameras from the switch
• Assess whether basic web management meets your needs or if a fully managed Layer 3 switch is required
• Ensure rack space and power availability in your wiring closet or server room
• Plan for cabling type and lengths to ensure proper link speeds and reach

Recommendations

Use the HP Enterprise 1820-48G as an access or aggregation switch in small to medium networks where straightforward VLAN segmentation and QoS improve performance for voice and data. Regularly back up configuration settings after initial setup and monitor link status via the web interface to detect faulty cables or ports early.
