AXIS Q9227-SLV is a compact, ligature‑resistant ceiling‑corner IP security camera for indoor use. It records 5 MP (2880×2160) video with a 1/1.7" CMOS sensor and provides wide coverage (115° horizontal × 89.2° vertical). The unit includes a hidden speaker and microphone for two‑way audio, invisible 940 nm IR illumination for surveillance in darkness, and a white LED for color details. Designed for demanding environments, it supports edge analytics, Lightfinder 2.0, Forensic WDR and Axis Zipstream with H.264/H.265 to reduce bandwidth and storage needs.

Advantages

The camera offers clear two‑way audio with an on/off switch and voice enhancer while maintaining a ligature‑resistant stainless steel housing rated IK11, IP66, IP69 and IP6K9K for durability and easy cleaning. Built‑in AI capabilities run on a deep learning processing unit (DLPU) to provide object detection, classification, tracking and counting at the edge, together with audio analytics for events such as screams or abrupt sound changes. Axis Edge Vault provides hardware‑based cybersecurity and FIPS 140‑3 Level 3 certified secure key storage.

How to use

Install the AXIS Q9227-SLV in the ceiling corner using appropriate fasteners and follow local mounting and wiring regulations for PoE or powered Ethernet. Connect the camera to the network via Ethernet and configure video settings, compression (H.264/H.265) and Zipstream to match bandwidth and storage requirements. Enable or disable the built‑in speaker and microphone as needed, and configure AXIS Object Analytics and AXIS Audio Analytics through the camera interface to run on the DLPU. Use Lightfinder 2.0 and Forensic WDR settings to optimise image detail in low light and high‑contrast scenes.

Recommendations

For occupant safety and privacy, use the ligature‑resistant mounting and enable AXIS Live Privacy Shield dynamic masking where required. Use the invisible 940 nm IR for non‑intrusive night surveillance and the white LED for color detail when needed. Maintain regular cleaning with approved detergents or graffiti removers and keep firmware updated to retain cybersecurity protections.
