Connect the keyboard to a computer using the appropriate connector: plug into a USB port for modern systems or into a PS/2 port for older machines. When using PS/2, ensure the computer is powered off before connecting or disconnecting if the system’s manual recommends it. After connection, the operating system should recognize the device automatically; if necessary, select the German keyboard layout in the system language/input settings to match the QWERTZ key mapping. Position the keyboard on a stable surface and adjust its angle for comfortable typing.

Recommendations

For reliable operation, route the cable to avoid sharp bends and keep liquids away from the keyboard. If using with legacy PS/2 ports, consult the computer documentation about hot-plugging behavior. Clean the keyboard surface with a dry or slightly damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners.
