The Noctua NA-IS1-12 Sx2 is a set of two 5 mm thick inlet spacer frames for Noctua 120x25 mm fans (chromax.black). Designed for suction or "pull" type installations where the fan draws air through grills, perforated plates, mesh panels, filters or radiators, these spacers offset the fan from the obstacle to reduce influx turbulence. By decreasing airflow disturbance at the intake, the NA-IS1 can improve airflow efficiency and often lower overall noise, making the fan sound quieter and more pleasant. The kit replaces the fan's stock NA-AVP1 anti-vibration pads and is compatible with all current square-frame Noctua 120x25 mm fans. The Sx2 package includes spacers, anti-vibration mounts, self-tapping fan screws and both M3 and UNC 6-32 radiator screws for straightforward installation.

How to use

For case intake mounting, position the spacer between the fan and the case panel so the spacer offsets the fan by 5 mm from the obstacle. Fit the supplied NA-AV3 silicone anti-vibration mounts or the long self-tapping screws through the spacer holes and attach them to the fan to sandwich the spacer between fan and panel. For radiator mounting, select the appropriate radiator screws (M3 or UNC 6-32) and fasten the fan, spacer and radiator together using the supplied 35 mm screws. Replace the fan's original NA-AVP1 pads with the NA-IS1 spacers when applicable.

Recommendations

Influx turbulence varies with fan model, grill shape, mesh pattern, fan speed and overall flow resistance; results cannot be guaranteed. If unsure, test by holding the fan with no gap first and then with a 5 mm gap to estimate expected improvement. In rare cases (e.g. certain slit-type grills) adding spacers may not help or could worsen results.
