Begin with light guiding cuts for detailed work like skinning, increasing pressure only as needed for tougher sections. Maintain a steady grip and observe safe cutting angles to avoid slipping. After each use, clean the blade with fresh water and a mild detergent if contaminated, dry thoroughly and apply a light protective oil to prevent corrosion and preserve the Damascus finish. Regular sharpening with an appropriate stone or sharpener will preserve edge performance.
