The Canon RF 24-105mm F4L IS USM is a compact, versatile standard zoom lens for EOS R mirrorless cameras and compatible MILC/SLR systems. Designed as part of Canon's L-series, it combines a constant f/4 aperture with a 24–105mm focal range, a compact housing enabled by the RF mount, and an integrated 5-stop optical Image Stabilizer. The lens includes a built-in Control Ring for direct, tactile adjustment of settings and Nano USM for fast, near-silent autofocus. Its optical construction (18 elements in 14 groups) and maximum magnification of 0.24x deliver reliable image quality across a wide range of shooting situations.

Advantages

The RF 24-105mm F4L IS USM provides a flexible focal range suitable for landscapes, portraits and everyday shooting while maintaining a constant f/4 aperture. Its 5-stop optical Image Stabilizer improves handheld sharpness and Dual Sensing IS is available when paired with compatible EOS R cameras. Nano USM delivers fast and quiet focusing, and the built-in Control Ring enables quick manual adjustments without diverting attention from composition. The lens’s compact dimensions (approx. 107.3 mm length and 83.5 mm diameter) and 0.7 kg weight make it portable for travel and location work.

Everyday and travel photography

How to use

Attach the lens to a compatible Canon RF-mount camera according to the camera and lens instructions. Use the zoom ring to set the desired focal length between 24 and 105 mm, and use the focus mode switch to select autofocus or manual focus. Operate the built-in Control Ring to adjust exposure-related settings such as aperture, ISO or shutter speed if configured in the camera menu. When shooting handheld, enable the lens’s image stabilization and, if available, allow Dual Sensing IS to operate with a compatible EOS R body for improved stabilization.

Recommendations

For best results, clean the front and rear elements with appropriate lens tissue, use a lens hood in bright conditions to reduce flare, and combine the lens’s optical IS with stable camera technique or a tripod for longer exposures. Update camera firmware to ensure full compatibility with Dual Sensing IS and Nano USM features.
