Access Point HPE Instant On Outdoor AP27 2,4 GHz 5 GHz Wi-Fi 5

The HPE Networking Instant On Outdoor Access Point AP27 is a dual‑band outdoor Wi‑Fi 6 (802.11ax) access point designed for outdoor venues and demanding environments. Housed in a rugged IP67 casing with integrated wall and pole mounts, the AP27 supports up to 75 simultaneous users, offers combined 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz connectivity with a maximum data rate of 1774 Mbit/s, and supports PoE (802.3af). It includes modern security protocols and can be managed through the Instant On mobile app or web portal without ongoing subscription fees.

Advantages

The AP27 provides durable protection against water, dust and extreme temperatures (operating range down to -40°F and up to 149°F) while delivering enterprise‑class Wi‑Fi 6 features such as OFDMA, MU‑MIMO and Target Wake Time for better capacity, reduced latency and improved battery life for IoT devices. Integrated mounting brackets and a hardened enclosure simplify outdoor installation and reduce the need for additional accessories. A free captive portal and intuitive management tools allow guest onboarding and network management without recurring charges.

How to use

Mount the AP27 using the integrated wall or pole brackets in a suitable outdoor location with clear line‑of‑sight to the coverage area. Connect a PoE‑capable switch or PoE injector to the unit’s RJ‑45 port to supply power and network connectivity. Use the Instant On mobile app or web portal to adopt the access point, configure SSIDs, security settings (OWE/WPA2/WPA3), and enable a captive portal for guest access. Position the unit to avoid obstructions and ensure antennas are oriented according to site‑specific coverage needs.

Recommendations

For best outdoor performance, install the AP27 at an elevated location away from large metallic obstructions and sources of RF interference. Use a PoE switch that meets 802.3af (Class 4) requirements and plan SSID and channel settings to minimize co‑channel interference in high‑density environments.
