Desktop RAID HDD pole SEAGATE LaCie 2big Raid USB‑C 40TB — 2‑bay, HDD, USB‑C

LaCie 2big RAID with 40 TB capacity is a two-bay desktop HDD array designed for creative professionals and business users who need high-capacity local storage and reliable data protection. The unit supports two 3.5" hard drives in hardware RAID 0/1 and connects via USB‑C, providing a compact solution for centralized backup, photo libraries, and video post-production workflows.

Advantages

Hardware-configurable RAID 0/1 allows balancing between maximum performance and data redundancy. Enterprise-class IronWolf Pro drives run at 7,200 RPM to support sustained throughput for large files and demanding editing tasks. Hot-swappable drive bays simplify drive replacement without powering down the system. Integrated RAID monitoring sends alerts about drive and system health, and included multi-year data recovery service covers recovery in case of accidental damage or disasters.

Suitable for

• Photographers and studios needing local backup for large image libraries
• Video editors working with high-bitrate footage and multicamera projects
• Small businesses requiring centralized file storage and redundancy
• Content creators who need fast, reliable access to large media files

How to use

Connect the LaCie 2big RAID to a host computer via the USB‑C port and power it on. Use the hardware RAID selector or on-screen utility to configure the array as RAID 0 for higher performance or RAID 1 for mirrored redundancy. Install or replace drives using the hot-swappable bays while the unit is running if necessary. Monitor drive status and system alerts with the provided RAID management software to ensure ongoing health and performance.

Recommendations

For video editing workflows, choose RAID 0 to maximize throughput and ensure your host system and software can sustain high data rates. For primary backups or irreplaceable data, use RAID 1 to maintain a mirrored copy. Keep regular offsite backups in addition to the array and enable RAID monitoring to receive early warnings of drive issues.
