Overview

The Irix Edge MMS Drop-in Small Black Mist 1/2 Filter is a premium optical tool for photographers, videographers, and cinematographers who demand subtle image softening without sacrificing sharpness. Designed specifically for the Irix Edge MMS matte box system, this filter fits the small drop-in slot, offering a fast, tool-free installation that keeps your workflow moving on set or in the field. At its core, the filter features high-quality optical glass with a 1/2 Black Mist diffusion strength. This strength is ideal for gently blooming highlights, smoothing skin tones, and adding a mild atmospheric glow—perfect for portraiture, narrative film, and commercial work where a natural, filmic aesthetic is desired. Unlike heavier diffusion filters, the 1/2 strength maintains overall contrast and detail, making it a versatile choice for everyday use.
