The Manfrotto Befree GT carbon travel tripod with 496 aluminium centre ball head (model MKBFRTC4GT-BH) is a lightweight professional tripod designed for hand-held camcorders and mirrorless or DSLR cameras. Folded length is 43 cm and maximum height is 162 cm, while the tripod supports up to 10 kg of equipment and weighs 1.55 kg. Its carbon legs, compact footprint and a multi-standard quick-release plate provide portability and compatibility with both Manfrotto RC2 and Arca‑Swiss style attachments.

Advantages

This travel tripod combines high stability with a compact folded size, offering reliable support for heavy camera and camcorder setups up to 10 kg. The proprietary solid spider improves steadiness on uneven terrain and includes an Easy Link for mounting accessories. The M-Lock twist locks are low-profile for fast, secure leg operation and convenient storage. The included 496 aluminium centre ball head provides three independent controls—sphere lock, friction control and panoramic rotation—so you can finely balance, position and pan the camera.

• Travel and on-location photography and videography
• Hand-held camcorders and mirrorless/DSLR cameras with lenses and accessories
• Landscape, portrait and panoramic shooting
• Situations requiring quick setup and compact transport

How to use

Mount the camera to the supplied quick-release plate and secure it to the 496 ball head. Use the main ergonomic knob to lock or release the ball, the friction control to fine-tune movement under load, and the panoramic knob to rotate the camera horizontally while keeping the horizon level. Adjust accessory position via the Easy Link when using lights or reflectors.

Recommendations

For best results, balance heavy camera setups carefully using the friction control before fully releasing the ball lock, and carry the tripod in a padded bag. Use the three leg-angle settings on uneven ground to maximise stability and attach accessories to the Easy Link to expand creative options.
