UGREEN CM847 M.2 NVMe USB4 SSD Enclosure

The UGREEN CM847 is an external SSD enclosure for M.2 NVMe drives that utilizes a modern USB4 interface, which allows data transfer speeds of up to 40 Gb/s. This makes transferring large files, working with 4K video materials, or copying games noticeably faster than with standard USB enclosures. The construction has been designed with efficiency, stable operation, and effective cooling of the disk in mind. NVMe stands for Non-Volatile Memory Express, a protocol designed for accessing high-speed storage media based on non-volatile memory, like SSDs. It allows faster data transfer rates and lower latency than older storage protocols like SATA. NVMe is commonly used in modern computers and servers to take advantage of the speed of SSD technology. Such drives can achieve very high speeds, but to fully utilize them, the right conditions are needed.

Key features

• Very fast data transfer – USB4 up to 40 Gb/s, which in practice means transferring even several gigabytes of data in a single second
• High bandwidth, perfect for large graphic projects, video files, or copying game libraries; compared to standard USB 3.2 Gen2 enclosures the transfer can be several times faster
• M.2 NVMe SSD support – an easy way to replace the internal drive with a fast data storage device connected via USB; a convenient solution for portable storage, backups, or expanding disk space on a laptop or computer
• Plug & Play – does not require installation of additional drivers and is ready to work immediately after connecting
• Wide compatibility – Windows, macOS, and Linux, as well as many other devices that support external drives via USB-C: laptops, desktop computers, and selected mobile devices
• Advanced cooling system – the aluminum construction acts as a heatsink dispersing heat over a large surface area, double thermal pads improve heat transfer from the drive to the enclosure, and a small fan with ventilation holes supports air circulation to help maintain stable performance even during long data transfers
• Aluminum (metal) casing – sturdy, protects the disk inside and enhances cooling efficiency; compact dimensions make it easy to take on trips or store in a laptop bag
• LED operation indicator – a steady light signals readiness or sleep mode, while blinking indicates data reading or writing
