The InLine® USB-A terminal block adapter offers a practical solution for transferring USB-2.0 signals to a 5-pin terminal block without soldering or cable connection. Typical applications can be found in the areas of service, test setups, development, or prototyping.
The standard-size USB-A socket is directly connected to a 5-pin screw terminal block. The clear labeling of the terminals – 1: Ground (–), 2: D+, 3: D–, 4: Voltage (+), 5: Shield (S) – enables easy and reliable signal assignment. The terminal connections with a 5.0 mm grid dimension support single wires in the 16–26 AWG range.
Wiring is carried out with the aid of a flat-head screwdriver. Thanks to its compact housing, the adapter is particularly space-saving – e.g. in test equipment, mobile measuring stations, or in laboratories.

How to use

Insert a USB‑A plug into the adapter's female socket and connect single conductors to the clearly marked screw terminals according to their function (ground, D+, D–, VBUS, shield). Strip the wire ends to the appropriate length, insert into the terminal, and secure using a flat‑head screwdriver (≤ 2.5 mm). Ensure correct pin assignment before applying power or signal to avoid damage to connected devices.

Recommendations

For reliable operation, use wires within the 16–26 AWG range and tighten the screws with a suitable flat‑blade screwdriver. Avoid exposing the adapter to conditions outside the specified temperature range (–20 °C to +105 °C). When used for prolonged or permanent installations, verify contact tightness periodically to maintain signal integrity.
