OWC Mercury Elite Pro Dual biela – externé puzdro pre 2× 3,5-palcové SATA pevné disky, RAID 0/1/SPAN, USB Type-B

OWC Mercury Elite Pro Dual White is a desktop 3.5" HDD enclosure designed to hold two SATA drives and provide flexible RAID options. The unit supports RAID 0, RAID 1 and SPAN configurations and connects to a host system via USB Type‑B. Finished in white, it targets users who need expanded desktop storage, improved transfer performance, or mirrored redundancy for backups, media libraries and archiving.

Advantages

The enclosure offers hardware RAID control for straightforward configuration of two 3.5" SATA drives, enabling either increased throughput or mirrored protection without relying on software. A USB Type‑B interface provides broad compatibility with desktop hosts. The white chassis is designed for desktop use and includes drive-activity indication and power management to reduce idle wear. The unit supports common RAID modes (RAID 0, RAID 1 and SPAN) to accommodate different workflow priorities such as performance, redundancy or combined capacity.

Suitable for (tasks / use cases)

• Desktop storage expansion for additional mass storage
• Local backups and archived project storage that require redundancy
• Media libraries and HD video workflows that benefit from higher sustained throughput
• Home office or studio setups that need a compact dual-drive RAID solution

Key specifications

• Form factor: external enclosure for two 3.5" SATA drives
• Drive interface supported: Serial ATA (SATA II/III compatible)
• RAID modes: RAID 0 (striping), RAID 1 (mirroring), SPAN (concatenation)
• Host connection: USB Type‑B
• Chassis finish: white desktop-style enclosure
• Drive indicators: activity LEDs and power management with automatic spin-down

How to use

Install two compatible 3.5" SATA drives into the enclosure following the included mounting procedure, connect the enclosure to your computer using the USB Type‑B cable, and power the unit. Select the desired RAID mode using the front-access RAID switch or controls on the enclosure before formatting the logical volume on your host system. After the host recognizes the configured RAID array, initialize and format it with the filesystem appropriate for your operating system and workflow. Observe drive-activity LEDs to monitor status and allow the enclosure to enter its power-save spin-down when idle.

Recommendations

Use the enclosure with matching-capacity drives when RAID 1 or RAID 0 is required for predictable capacity and performance. For critical data storage, configure RAID 1 for mirrored redundancy and maintain regular separate backups. Place the unit on a stable, ventilated desktop surface to ensure adequate cooling and avoid obstructing the chassis fan or vents.
